Many credit card commercials advertise that credit cards are more convenient than cash. They also show the benefits of using these cards and make it look glamorous and trendy. On the opposing side of the glamorous and cool lives of those who use credit cards, there are people in massive card debt.
Although these cards are easy to obtain, this doesn't mean that the card companies are wholly at fault for those who overspend. Those who carry excessive credit card debt find getting out of debt extremely difficult. There are two sides at the table when the card companies are discussed. There are those who think those who get themselves into too much debt are at fault for their own problems. Then, there are those who feel that credit card companies need to be more strict as to who they give cards to.
While there are some major benefits of using credit cards, there are some major pitfalls as well. Each person who gets a card needs to find what side of the table they sit at before they get a credit card. They also need to educate themselves as to how these cards work so that they are less likely to become another victim of overspending. Case studies have shown that those who are more educated about credit card debt are less likely to get in debt. These studies also show that when the card companies are more strict with who they give credit cards to, those they give the cards to generally fair better than companies who are more lax in who they give the cards to.
